Advanced, Powerful, and fuel-efficient performance

Jeep Renegade Edmonton

Aside from the Jeep Wrangler, if there’s any vehicle that looks and acts most like a Jeep should, it’s the Jeep Renegade. Edmonton drivers have invested their trust in the vehicle in the previous years and, in its latest manifestation, it doesn’t fail to disappoint. It takes the standard Jeep formula and turns it into a cute and compact family vehicle that will steal the hearts of many of the buyers.

It has enough to stand out compared to many of the vehicles in its class. It beats the Mazda CX-3 in terms of interior size and comfort. And it leaves the Honda HR-V miles behind when considering its off-road capability. But it doesn’t just stop there. It also offers a range of standard and optional equipment to maximize the comfort and utility value of the vehicle. And it does all that in a price that’s extremely affordable compared to its competition.

When we think of Jeep, we imagine a powerful vehicle that’s capable of delivering an extraordinary driving performance at any kind of terrain. This is exactly what you can expect from the Jeep Renegade. Edmonton drivers who want a truly superior off-road vehicle that exceeds all expectations, should go for the excellent Trailhawk trim. It has everything you can wish for in an off-road vehicle. Its additional features include better all-terrain tires, protective skid-plates, an enhanced ground clearance, and a four-wheel drive mechanism that makes it the king of the alternative terrain. What else could you want from a Jeep?

When it comes to the Jeep Renegade, Edmonton drivers, who just want a good compact family vehicle, would appreciate its class, comfort, and coziness. What broadens its appeal, more than anything else, is that the Renegade is available in a large number of trims and variations. Add all the available optional equipment to the mix and you have the ability to create a custom vehicle that suits your needs.

The Engine

Off-road vehicles are not generally known for their smooth and superior driving experience on the pavement. When you buy a Wrangler, you look for a powerful engine and a magnificent towing capability. You don’t expect the comfortably smooth drive of a higher-end vehicle. And you shouldn’t. However, even if you approach a compact-crossover off-road SUV with high expectations, you would still be surprised by the Jeep Wrangler. Edmonton drivers will love the pairing of a strong engine with a strong suspension.

You have two available four-cylinder engine options to choose from—the 1.4-liter turbocharged and the 2.4-liter Tigershark. Both engines are capable of providing adequate power to enable the Renegade to survive even the most challenging of terrains. The former comes with a six-speed manual transmission. And if you want more out of the vehicle, you can opt for the nine-speed automatic transmission available with the latter.

You also have the option of choosing either a two-wheel or a four-wheel drive arrangement regardless of the engine you ultimately go for. A 2.4-liter engine, with a four-wheel drive, can tow around 2,000 pounds. You can also disconnect the rear axle in the Trailhawk model which comes with wider tires and a range of options for an impressive off-road experience.

Here’s a brief overview of some of the available engine options:

3.6-liter V6

1.4-liter turbocharged inline-4

  • Horsepower: 160 clocking at 5,500 rpm
  • Torque 184 lb-ft at 2,500-4,000 rpm
  • Fuel Economy 24 mpg (City), 31 mpg (Highway) (2WD and 4WD)
1.4-liter MultiAir

2.4-liter inline-4

  • Horsepower 180 clocking at 6,400 rpm
  • Torque 175 lb-ft at 3,900 rpm
  • Fuel Economy 22 mpg (City), 31 mpg (Highway) (Two-wheel drive)
  • Fuel Economy 21 mpg (City), 29 mpg (Highway) (Four-wheel drive)

The Exterior

The Renegade has that quintessential Jeep look that reminds us a lot of the Wrangler. It takes up less space and is considerably cuter. But you can see how its external appearance is inspired by its predecessors. Jeep’s classic front grille with seven slots? Check. Round headlights? Check. The straight-line design of the Wrangler? Check. It’s clear that the Renegade ticks all the boxes.

Yet, when looking at the Jeep Renegade, Edmonton drivers will notice the differences rather than the similarities. The Renegade brings the vintage Jeep shape to the post-modern era. It’s more sleek and stylish than the Wrangler. You also have the option of removing the roof panels for an open-air experience. The differences are even more noticeable in the Trailhawk model which is beefier and a much sturdier version of the Renegade.

The Interior

If the compact external appearance gives the impression of a cramped interior, be prepared to be surprised. It can easily seat five passengers and offers them enough headspace and legroom for a comfortable long drive. And, despite the spacious passenger seats, it still has a lot of space in the back for cargo. Fold the rear seats and you can easily carry longer cargo like surfboards and skis.

And although the Renegade is an affordable utility vehicle, the interior feels like it belongs to a much more high-end automobile. The seats are much more comfortable than some of the other vehicles in its class and the number of utility options is surprising for a vehicle of its price range.

The Equipment

The basic trim of the Jeep Renegade comes with enough options to justify its low price. And even though it’s pretty affordable, you get a lot of features like a six-way adjustable driver’s seat, an entertainment panel with USB input, as well as power windows and doors. With some of the higher trims, you can have air conditioning, fog lights, a rearview camera, and a Uconnect infotainment system with a 5-inch interface and Bluetooth connectivity.

As you go for higher and higher trims, you get more comfort options like leather seats and a dual-zone climate control as well as safety options like lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring and rear parking assistance.

The verdict

The Renegade offers all you can hope for in a compact-crossover SUV. From the off-road performance to the comfort and luxury of a high-end vehicle, there’s plenty to like in the Jeep Renegade. Edmonton families looking for some adventure and excitement can’t do better than the Renegade. It truly sets the high mark in the compact SUV range and forces its competitors to up their game.
