Changes to Expect With the 2017 Dodge Challenger Redesign

The Charger is scheduled to get an update to the front grille design for 2017, offering drivers restyled headlights with new integrated LED daytime running lights, which should help to enhance safety as well as appeal. The hood and front fenders are also said to be getting a slight redesign, although it isn’t clear just what the end product will be.

Inside, the Charger is also said to be getting a light refresh in styling and improved passenger space, although executives at Dodge are keeping those details quiet for now. Rumors do abound that a potential addition will be an upgraded Beats audio system on the Rally Trim.

Dodge is also said to be improving upon the Charger’s already impressive AWD system, plus adding larger brakes, and potentially improved horsepower in the smallest engine.

Similarities to the 2016 Model

Select trims will still benefit from Dodge’s performance technology, which includes the innovative Performance Pages system which allows drivers to monitor their driving, making improvements where needed so that they can get the greatest enjoyment from their Charger.

Other features likely to carry over from the 2016 model would be access to satellite radio, options like Brembo performance brakes, power heated exterior mirrors, rear spoiler, heated leather seating, and a high-speed engine controller.

2016 Dodge Charger Highlights

The 2016 Dodge Charger offers drivers plenty of power, amenities, and advanced safety features to keep it a popular option:

  • Power – The base engine is a Pentastar V6 capable of 300 hp. A step up from that would be the 370-hp HEMI V8 motor, or a 485-hp SRT HEMI V8 engine for those requiring more boost. At the top of the lineup is the sought-after 6.2L Supercharged HEMI Hellcat V8 engine that can make a dazzling 707 hp.
  • Options – Drivers can take advantage of the groundbreaking Uconnect multimedia system with available 8.4-inch colour touchscreen interface. This system provides drivers with audio connectivity and Bluetooth hands-free calling, as well as available navigation, Apple CarPlay, 7-inch customizable in-cluster display, steering wheel-mounted controls, and more.
  • Safety – Optional safety equipment includes Forward Collision Warning System with Active Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, Park Sense Rear Park Assist, Keyless Enter ‘n Go, and Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-path detection.
